Gunlock Fishing Lures

You can catch bass on a lot of different lures, but here is what works good on Gunlock fishing for bass. Give these baits a try next time you are out here, and you might just tie into a couple fish.

Rapala DT-10 Crankbait

The Bluegill Rapala DT-10 Crankbait produced the most bass for us. It especially seemed to shine in the more ledge areas around the flooded brush with the wind blowing a little. This lure is easy to use, just cast and wind. The key is to make sure it is bumping the cover. Plus, an occasional pause on the retrieve can draw a strike or two.

Bandito Bug

A green pumpkin Bandito Bug set up on a perfection lures shaky head caught the bigger fish of the trip. The bass in gunlock feed a lot on crayfish. Crayfish are an easy meal for bass, so they love crayfish immitation baits like the bandito bug. Throw this bait on a good spinning rod and reel set up with the light 1/8 oz shaky head for optimum results. This set up is a great way to catch a fish at gunlock.

Additional Gunlock Fishing Info

Overall, gunlock was a fun time fishing with my two boys. The key to catching the bass on the crankbaits was the little bit of wind we had in the morning. Then when things calmed down, we had to switch to more subtle techniques like soft plastic craws, and a swim jig. Check out the pictures below of some of the fish we caught. Nothing super massive, but fun health fish. It’s a great place to fish a variety of different structure, and the kids had a blast too.
