Kids Fishing Gear

Kids fishing gear is a full-on job, and having the right stuff can make your life so much better. Over the years of taking my kids out fishing, I’ve struggled with transporting everything. Here’s a review of a piece of equipment which has really helped me out on my recent trips handling fishing gear. Mainly this tool will help with transporting rods and reels. In addition, here are a few tips to help your kids enjoy fishing more. Also, included in this post is some video of me using this rod caddy for handling kids fishing gear, and helping my kids catch some fish. Enjoy and get stoked to help your family out on the water after reading!

Castek Rod Caddy

The Castek Rod Caddy has been super helpful in transporting gear from the garage, to the car, and to the lake. It enables you to hang your rods with the mounting brackets, carry your rods in one hand without them tangling, and keeping your reels from hitting the dirt and getting damaged out on the lake. I ran into this product at an outdoor show in SLC, and signed up to receive one of their first products. It’s been a real help for handling my kids fishing gear.

There are couple more things I love about this product, and only one downside I see with this thing. Starting with the downside, the rod slots aren’t quite wide enough for my beefy bait casting rods, but there is a stretchy rubber band holder that enables them to lock in place. Make sure to check out the video below on how this thing works. It truly does help eliminate rods getting stuck together, and keeps your lines separated. You can just pull your rod out and fish. Lastly, it enables you to carry more rods easier if you want to switch techniques. The Castek Rod Caddy is super helpful for taking better care of your expensive fishing gear.

Kids Fishing Gear Tips

One thing I’ve noticed with my kids, is how much they love just playing with the tackle. If your kids are like mine, their attention spans are really short. Giving them a bunch of my old tackle has been helpful, so they can pick and choose different lures and stuff to cast around and watch in the water. I’ve found you often get what you pay for with kids fishing gear. Don’t take your kid to the store to pick out their pole, or they will want you to by the ninja turtle pole that doesn’t work. Children just love having their own stuff. Get them a decent push button reel, and small rod they can manage. Give the pole to them as a gift, so you avoid the sponge bob pole with the crap along with it.

Get kids fishing gear to fit them that actually works. You will spend more time fishing, and less time untangling messes.

Also, remember it’s not about catching fish. It’s about having a good time. Go exploring, have lots of fun snacks, and play in the water. Start off fishing for easy things like bluegill. There is nothing better for your child than seeing a little bluegill eat their bait under a dock. They get excited, and love the little fish because they are easier to manage. Before long your kids will start asking, “When can we go fishing again?”. Probably my favorite words to hear from my children’s mouth.

Kids Fishing Gear Additional Thoughts

One other thing to help you with fishing with your kids gear is a small snap swivel. Literally, my kids want to change their lures every 3 minutes. Having a small snap swivel will help you from always having to re-tie. Plus, it is easier for them to put something else on directly to a snap swivel. I’ve seen fish shy away from swivels, but have found a small snap swivel will still provide decent bites from the fish out on the water.

One more thing, The links above and below in this post are affiliate links were you can pick up baits, rod’s, reels, line, and anything else I use to “Krak” some bass fishing with this gear. Use this stuff to catch more fish with your kids. Krakenbass receives a small percentage of the sales through these links. I only use links to baits, and gear I personally trust and know work. These links are here to be helpful for you, and not for the small amount I make for the sale of the products. I hope these products can help you “krak” some bass like they have for me. Thank you for your support!

As always,

Stay Stoked!!!
